ATHENIAN REVIEW BY LILI DRAKOU

“.......This lovely recording from Cyprus consists by 13 songs of Cypriot composer Defkalionas Iakovides (director of National Conservatory of Limassol). Some of these songs are fine examples of Greek Lieds. The main elements of Mr. Iakovides’ musical language are the variety of musical colors, and refinement of style; his writing is rich, and his musical ideas don’t lack originality even when borrowing the expression style of folk songs. This very well-done project, has taken its audio form in a most positive way when recorded by soloists I. Mousteri, M. Psiloini, T. Mandialio, T. Konnari, M. P. Lefkonikiatou, and the choir of Cyprus Operatic Stage (established in 1981) under the direction of the charismatic soprano Ioli Mousteri.”
